“The Movie We Are In was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jeff Trott. I loved the songs Jeff wrote with Sheryl Crow. He proposed the idea of coming out to his home studio in Manhattan Beach. At the time I was listening a lot to Beck's record, Modern Guilt. Coincidentally, Jeff did a lot of session work with the guys in Beck's band. Justin Meldal Johnson, Victor Indrizzo, Brian LeBarton, Roger Manning all contributed to the Movie We Are In. I was blown away by their cool and inventive musical ideas. Jeff and I co-wrote the main single, Love Shakes You Down. I'll never forget when we did the demo of Love Shakes - my wife Katie and I drove around the streets of Hermosa Beach singing the chorus over and over. I thought the Movie We Are In was a great title for a record that was made in Los Angeles. My favorite song on the album is Red Cloud Road - it's one that I still sing on my gigs. I wrote the whole song in about 20 minutes in a small motel in Truckee, California.” – Pete Francis
